Hydrated Lime

Hydrated Lime

Hydrated lime (Ca(OH)2), also known as slaked lime or calcium hydroxide, is a fine white, odorless powder produced by adding water to quicklime (calcium oxide). As a versatile alkaline material, it is widely used in construction for mortar and asphalt, in environmental applications for water treatment and soil stabilization, and in industrial processes for pH adjustment.

Production & Properties: It is created through a controlled “quenching” or hydration process. It is relatively insoluble in water but produces a strong alkaline solution with a pH of roughly Construction Use: Known as “builders’ lime,” it improves the workability, plasticity, and durability of mortars and plasters. In road construction, it is added to asphalt to improve strength, reduce cracking, and enhance moisture resistance.
