Benzyl chloride, or -chlorotoluene (C7H7Cl), is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid that serves as a highly reactive, versatile chemical building block in industrial chemistry. It is a strong alkylating agent, often used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes, plasticizers, and perfumes.
